Welcome!
Just as the human body has many "members" or parts, each with their own special function, so the Church is made up of unique individuals who bring unique gifts to the Church and God's mission to make Christ known.
Trinity Lutheran Church is part of that body of Christ, called into ministry, work, and witness in La Crosse. We're a congregation rich in history and heritage; on the brink of a new chapter in our life together! Through our worship, through our learning together, through our working together, we're seeking how to best serve Jesus and our neighbors in this place and time. We believe exciting things are happening in this body of believers and we're anxious to welcome others to join us in this excitement. Come on along!

Dear Friends,
As of this writing, I’m about 36 hours away (but who’s counting?) from heading out for my annual jaunt to Wyoming to chase after turkeys… the Merriam’s subspecies, to be exact. They’re a little different from the Eastern subspecies we find here in the Midwest, and a whole lot of fun to look for! I always leave on this journey with a little bit of trepidation, as I recall a similar excursion from 2001 with my cousin, John. While in Gillette, we stayed with some friends, Andy and Brenda Johnson... both school teachers. Andy was a junior-high biology teacher, as well as a part-time taxidermist and avid hunter himself.
This particular trip was good for me... not just for the relaxation and time away it afforded, but particularly for the opportunity to reflect on the choices we make in life and the directions we choose to go. This is why I remember it to you now…
The day before we left for Wyoming was John’s last day of work at a turkey farm south of Rochester... a job he had held for eleven years. Upon his wife’s death from breast cancer the summer before, John took stock of what he’d been doing with him-self and concluded that simply being “comfortable” in a familiar job was no reason to waste one’s life staying there, if it’s not satisfying. So, he turned in his resignation and embarked on starting his own business... totally unrelated to his former field of work. It was an incredible risk at the age of 37 with two small kids to care for, but in his eyes a necessary risk in order to make the most of this uncertain life.
